Almost all of my latest works, focus on the face - the figure, the possibilities to approach this theme are very permissive. The face, in a personal point of view, has become the leit motif; it is transformed according to the mood, the representation or to the imagination. I have noticed a transition from the archaic portrait of the angelic faces that I have searched for before I started this series, to doubled-faced portrait, a new image of the modern man, contemporary man, that carries within the anxiety of the world that he lives in. The compositions – the paintings,  are zooming in and out around the character/characters that appears in the paintings. The face shows the inner emotions, the emotions of the soul, it is a form of expression through which we try to express our control, or quite the opposite, the outburst of our inner states. In it stands both the helpnessless, disgust, shelter and the escape from the everyday life. The face becomes, as well as the Art, a broadcaster of an emotion developed from a state of mind.

Why images, why faces? The appearances are illustrated some times with rough expressions, some other times having passive and serene expressions, becoming by contrast intensive existences, anxieties, stereotypes of the inner and outer turmoil. The concern for the replicability of faces as well as the transposition of individual and collective identities, from the environment closed to me, represents a problem that the whole world has to face. Everybody searches for their identity; some of them seem intangible, some are two-faced, some just pretend to be something and eventually become their own victims, some are just misunderstood by the others, but in the end we are all humans. They represent experiences lived at some point, they represent experiences shared by others, and maybe, as well as I, they are striked by the same multiple personalities of their own inner-self or of those that are around them. The truth about the society we live in is a sad one, actually descouraging, the individual or social duality is an ongoing process. The social-media channels, the communication channels show a variety of these cases; there are worlds imagined by some people, worlds that are parallel to the reality, the fake becomes the real truth, and as a self entity it is very hard to realise anymore the difference between what it actually is and what it is not...
